About

Carolyn Wilhelm, MD, is a pediatric cardiologist and director of the Pediatric Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program, part of the Congenital Heart Collaborative at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Dr. Wilhelm is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. Dr. Wilhelm is an assistant professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Wilhelm earned her medical degree at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. She completed her residency training in pediatrics at University of Maryland Hospitals for Children, where she also served as chief resident. She completed fellowships in pediatric cardiology and advanced non-invasive cardiac imaging at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She also earned a Masters in Medical Science from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Wilhelm is very active in research in the area of pediatric cardiology and cardiac imaging has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, book chapters and other publications in her areas of expertise. Dr. Wilhelm is a member of multiple professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography, the Society for Pediatric Research, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She also serves on various committees at the national and hospital level.

Dr. Wilhelm is dedicated to medical education, serving as the Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship and is actively involved in the residency program and medical school. She is also an active member on multiple national education committees dedicated to education of pediatric cardiologists, trainees, and songographers. She has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including the Distinguished Teaching Award in pediatric cardiology and Fellowship Research Award (UH Rainbow) and has been elected to the Academy of Scholar Educators at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
