Dr. Wetzel is wonderful. He went above and beyond helping to research alternative treatment options and spent time speaking with my insurance in efforts to have expensive tx approved.

Dr. Wetzel is the best! *** I have been blessed to have absolutely amazing doctors treat me but it's very rare when you get amazing doctors because of the skills they know and at the same time to be genuinely decent human beings. In that category is, Dr. Wetzel, Dr. ***, Dr. ***, Dr. *** and last but certainly not least, my neurologist, Dr. ***

The care received during this visit was excellent. The doctor came in the room having already reviewed my file and knowledgeable about the records and what we were here to discuss. He showed great patients as I work to understand the options and pros and cons of each choice. I went ahead with the surgery with this provider due to the confidence and care that he demonstrated.

Dr. Wetzel kind of got stuck with my case as the attending who was on call when I came into the ER wasn't answering the page & Dr. Wetzel read my CT & Xray and subsequently my follow-up as well. I appreciate his taking on my case very much and have the utmost confidence in his treatment of my calcaneal fracture.

Dr. Wetzel saw me on short notice even though I was not a previous patient of him (my wife was). Unlike the Cleveland Clinic related specialist I have been seeing for this injury, Dr. Wetzel listened to me, diagnosed the injury correctly (as it turned out), scheduled an MRI and follow-up visit within minutes. That was more than I had expected!

Dr. Wetzel and his staff have always been fantastic. Professional , but they talk to you and care for you like family. I have recommended his office to family and friends many times. If my Insurance were to ever become out of network or not accepted, I would pay out of pocket.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
