*** I rate my care from Dr. Waggoner as all that we could possibly want and expect. He allowed his fellow the teaching opportunity needed but without any abdication of his responsibility to the patient. He modeled teaching and patient care as we wish it would always be carried out in an academic setting.

Dr Steven Waggoner is amazing. On this particular visit, he was running behind by about an hour; however, I know from personal experience with him and his staff that, if they are running behind at all (which is very unusual), it is because they've had to deliver less than favorable news to at least one or more patients before me, or, perhaps there was an emergency for him to attend to for one of his patients receiving chemo or radiation that same day that he always makes priority, as he should. When I was having chemo there five years ago, I had several emergencies that the nurses pulled him from an appointment for and am I grateful for his attention to detail, his caring nature, his commitment to the complete well being of each and every one of his patients. I was kept informed of his delay and actually was able to speak in detail with one of his partners, Dr [...], who, was also very thorough, detail oriented, kind, caring, and helpful. I love Dr Waggoner - he has saved my life both figuratively and literally - multiple times! His staff is amazing and they are always so very kind, professional, and thorough!

Reviewed On 6/22/2019
Dr. Waggoner is the most highly qualified GYN oncologist anyone could find. He is also the most compassionate, thorough and kind practitioner in the area in my opinion. I have been his patient for many years and feel anyone who has him as their doctor has the best in the field and one who treats you as a person and not just another number for the institution and its revenue. He cares, and that is hard to find in medicine anymore. I know; I worked all my life in the hospital setting, [...] and he is a rare breed and for anyone needing his expertise, they will find the knowledge and compassion attributes that are rarely found anymore in medicine.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
