Dr. Lappen is the best OB I have ever had. *** I was pregnant with twins and needed the expert care from a high risk physician. From the very first appointment until the delivery he was patient, kind, professional and made me feel at ease. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him. Please do everything you can to retain him as a physician. You are very lucky to have him on staff.

Dr Lappen is the most amazing physician I have ever encountered. He is my angel sent from above. My husband and I's fertility journey has been a nightmare and Dr Lappen has been there through it all and has made even the worst situation a good one. *** I couldn't have a better physician than Dr Lappen.

Dr. Lappen was great as always. He spent a ton of time with us at this particular visit since ultimately our baby wasn't growing well and we made the decision to have her the next day as a result. He explained all the options thoroughly and gave us the choice of how we wanted to proceed. We really appreciated all the care he provided throughout the pregnancy. He truly went above and beyond on more than one occasion.

The quality and compassion of the care from the UH doctors is unparalleled. While we have chosen to remain with Dr. Lappen as our primary, due to his knowledge and care, we feel confident with the other doctors within his field as well. There are many knowledgeable doctors in the Cleveland area, but UH doctors across the board exhibit a level of compassion I have never experienced anywhere else in the United States. I mean that as emphatically as possible. […]

Dr. Lappen was great as always. Pregnancy has been pretty easy up until the past week and he was incredibly responsive to my questions and concerns. He took a lot of time with us and explained everything. Caring for medical professionals is not easy but I have had nothing but the best experiences with him.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.
UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
