Elizabeth B. Brooks, MD, PhD, is an adult and pediatric rheumatologist in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Rheumatology at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. She holds a joint appointment with the Division of Adult Rheumatology at UH Cleveland Medical Center and UH Ahuja Medical Center. She is Assistant Professor, Pediatrics and Medicine, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Brooks is board certified in internal medicine. Her special interests include systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic vasculitis.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, Wellesley, Mass., and her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She also holds a PhD in epidemiology and immunology from Yale University, New Haven, Conn. Dr. Brooks completed her residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Mass. She received specialized training in pediatric rheumatology at Boston Children's Hospital while a rheumatology fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Dr. Brooks joined the UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital staff in 2005 from the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center and University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, Mass.
She has authored and coauthored articles, abstracts and reviews in leading medical publications. Her current research interests include cardiovascular risks in SLE in adult and pediatric patients, treatment of SLE in adult and pediatric patients, systemic vasculitis, medical errors and quality control in medicine.
She is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Rheumatology section on pediatric rheumatology. She has been listed in Castle Connolly America’s Top Doctors and SuperDoctors Cleveland since 2012. In 2013 she was among US News & World Report’s Top Doctors and the winner of a Patient’s Choice Award.
