UH-Kent State Nursing Program

UH and Kent State University recently joined forces to launch a new nursing education initiative designed to increase the number of baccalaureate-degreed nurses who enter the workforce each year. Through this program, UH will provide financial assistance to nursing students in their senior year at Kent State University in exchange for a commitment to work at UH for two years post-graduation. Additionally, we will provide our experienced nursing staff to serve as teachers in the Kent State nursing program. Through this collaboration with UH, the Kent State College of Nursing hopes to expand the number of admissions to its BSN program beginning with the fall semester of 2019. When the new program reaches capacity, it will produce 80 additional BSN graduates annually.

Program details:

  • 20 nursing students are selected annually as UH Nursing Scholars to receive $12,000 in financial support for their senior year, contingent on their employment with UH for at least two years after graduation.
  • Kent State nursing students have opportunities to complete their clinical education across the diverse UH health system.
  • Kent State nursing students have opportunities to work as part-time nursing assistants at UH while completing their education.
