Linda and Les Vinney: Banking on Our Future

“We supported the Biorepository and Genomics Facility because we believe that the resources and its related programs will help advance the understanding of cancer genetics, enabling earlier diagnosis through genetic testing, and more powerful and personalized cures for those impacted by cancer.”

A generous $2 million gift from Cleveland philanthropists Linda and Les Vinney is accelerating University Hospitals’ national leadership in cancer genetics. Named in recognition of their generosity, the Linda and Les Vinney Biorepository and Genomics Facility plays a key role in hastening important discoveries and cancer therapies. By enhancing our ability to sequence a patient’s genome and store and analyze biological specimens, the Vinney Biorepository increases UH physician-scientists’ capabilities in analyzing tissue samples and the large amounts of data that comes from this analysis, all critical steps in cancer research.

Mr. Vinney, former CEO and President of Steris Corp., serves on the University Hospitals Board of Directors. Mrs. Vinney, a retired genetics counselor, is a master gardener and community volunteer. The Vinneys are members of the Seidman Cancer Leadership Council.
