Teen Brings Dr Seuss to Rainbow

Teen Brings Dr. Seuss to RainbowPatients at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital are enjoying the whimsical words and fantastical drawings of Dr. Seuss, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Emily Krejci, Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen 2015. The North Royalton teen recently raised nearly $600 and delivered close to 160 new Dr. Seuss books to Rainbow – just in time for the Read Across America Day, a nationwide reading celebration on the author’s March 2 birthday.

To raise money for the books, Emily set up a GoFundMe account online. She also promoted the book drive to friends and family on her Facebook page. A story in the local paper prompted even more donations.

“I love being at Rainbow and feeling like I can do something for others,” said Emily, who plans to stay involved in fundraising for the hospital long after she gives up her crown. “One thing I’ve learned from this project is that you don’t need the crown to do good for others – anyone can contribute back to the community and give to others.”
