Suds and Smiles

Employees of Maroon Group in Avon, Ohio, washed co-workers’ cars to raise money for pediatric cancer research at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

The car wash is a fundraising favorite but it’s usually kids who do the washing and scrubbing for charity – not office workers. On a warm, sunny afternoon in late September, seven employees of Maroon Group, a specialty chemical supplier based in Avon, Ohio, rolled up their sleeves and washed 30 of their co-workers’ cars in exchange for donations to pediatric cancer research at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. The hardworking car-wash crew, including an outside salesman who flew in from Austin, Texas to help out, raised more than $500 in just two hours.

“The car wash brought everyone in the company together, including the executives, for a great cause. It was a wonderful experience for Maroon Group,” says Dave Higgins, director of logistics, environmental & safety.
