A Colorful Finish for Rainbow

Sharon Klonowski with Rainbow Run runners

Circle of Friends’ Sharon Klonowski is flanked by runners bathed in colors of the rainbow following a fun-filled color run/walk benefiting UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

On Saturday, July 12th, more than 350 runners and walkers attended the second-annual Rainbow Run, a fun-filled color powder 5K run and 2K walk, at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills. Madison Asher and Kennedy Ricci, both college students and alumni of Gilmour Academy, planned and hosted this year’s Rainbow Run to benefit University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Throughout the walk/run, a variety of color powders were tossed on participants, marking their progress and transforming the entire group of athletes into a rainbow by race’s end.

Runners raised more than $20,000 for UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. At the race’s start, participants gave a moment of silence to honor the passing of Jim Brennan, the beloved owner of Brennan’s Colony in Cleveland Heights who passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2014. Some donations were made to Rainbow in his honor.

Plans are underway for the third-annual Rainbow Run, expected to take place next summer.
