The Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Center offers compassionate, personalized, specialized care for patients suffering from heart failure and other debilitating heart diseases.

Our goal is to minimize your symptoms, encourage healthy attitudes and behaviors, and prevent hospital admissions.

Led by James Fang, MD, FACC and Chief Medical Officer of UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, our Heart Failure, Transplant and Circulatory Assistance Program team includes specialists with broad experience and highly advanced training in the evaluation and management of patients with advanced heart disease, including many referred to as "no option" patients. This team works to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage heart failure by combining innovative medical technology with individualized treatment plans.

The care our nationally-recognized cardiologists and surgeons provide is complemented by nurse clinicians with specific expertise in heart failure. They can help you adopt positive lifestyle changes through dietary counseling, exercise instruction and intensive education about your condition and medications.

As part of an academic medical center, the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Center participates in clinical trials that offer therapeutic options available only in selected programs throughout the country. For example, our program has been one of the nation's leading centers offering specialized programs of exercise in chronic heart failure and unique medications in diastolic heart failure.

These varied, unique options enable us to tailor a treatment plan for you and your family that incorporates the most contemporary and innovative therapies available today.
