H1N1 [Swine] Flu and Your Health

University Hospitals is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of our patients, families, visitors and employees.

There are indications that higher levels of influenza-like illness exist in the United States than is normal for this time of year. Most of the influenza viruses being detected now are 2009 influenza A (H1N1) viruses.

UH medical leadership is actively managing the current situation as well as reviewing national, state, local and hospital policies about pandemic influenza, and will issue updates as needed.

As a reminder, persons with flu-like symptoms are advised to stay home from work or school to avoid spreading infections to others. In addition, frequent hand-washing and cough etiquette can lessen the spread of respiratory illness.
