For Nick, who prefers riding one out of the park to riding in ambulances, that’s one more reason he feels right at home on her team.

Power in Relationships

Rainbow’s long-standing relationship with the Case School of Medicine andnumerous other key partners throughout the community enables us toadvance the future of pediatric medicine and enrich children’s lives.

As part of University Hospitals Health System, Rainbow has recently entered into a historic 50-year partnership agreement with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (Case) which will ensure productive research collaboration between the world’s leading medical research institutions. These developments will have a substantial impact on medical research and healthcare throughout the 21st century.

To conduct research on the frontlines, Rainbow recently formed a practice-based clinical research network for pediatricians throughout the region. The “Rainbow Research Network” coordinates the efforts of pediatricians and researchers at Case and Rainbow. Since pediatricians are the first to assess children on social, psychological and physical levels, they are becoming increasingly involved in the growing need to help parents solve issues of depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), obesity and other chronic conditions of childhood. The Network promotes opportunities for affiliated pediatricians to conduct practice-based research and participate in clinical research, and to increase collaboration amongst community practitioners and Rainbow specialists.

The Division of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics , unique to pediatrics, analyzes the causes and consequences of pediatric disease. This research will continue to provide the background to enable clinicians to plan for future prevention and management of prematurity, maternal depression, sleep apnea and the chronic conditions of childhood, including diabetes, obesity and asthma.

More than 350 Rainbow-affiliated pediatricians a relocated throughout the greater Cleveland area suburbs. Rainbow - affiliated emergency medicine specialists see patients at Chagrin Highlands in Orange Village, St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, and Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights.
Rainbow has also formed partnerships with MetroHealth Medical Center on Cleveland’s Near West Side so that its PICU and other medical subspecialties benefit from Rainbow’s surgical, pharmacology and critical care experts. Community Health Partners in Lorain, Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights, and Tod Children’s Hospital in Youngstown also have Rainbow surgeons, neonatalogists and critical care specialists in their operating rooms and intensive care units.

One of our ongoing objectives objectives is to increase the amount of federal, state and local funding Rainbow receives to help achieve our mission of healing, teaching and discovering. Thus, we are a long-standing, full member of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions. We are proud to work closely with government officials, such as U.S. Senator Mike DeWine (R - OH) , who have nurtured our projects and advocated for children’s health. Rainbow also founded the Coalition for Greater Cleveland’s Children, a non-partisan group of public, not-for-profit and private sector organizations that promote public awareness and improvement in the health, education, safety and economic well-being of our community’s children. By fostering relationships with the individuals and organizations that have the power to impact our mission, we are better positioned to make significant changes in the lives of the children who need help most.

Rainbow benefits from the generous support of partnerships including the Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit group that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals nationwide and our fundraising organization, Rainbow Circle of Friends.
