When you visit the Epilepsy Center, we begin by making sure that you actually have epilepsy.
That may sound strange, but there are other conditions that mimic epilepsy, and a mistaken diagnosis is one reason why an epilepsy treatment may not be working.
There are also more than 30 different types of epilepsy, and each one responds differently to treatment.
You can see how important it is that you receive the right kind of treatment for your particular type of epilepsy.
If you have tried two or more medications for epilepsy without success, it may be time to try a different approach. After we identify the type of epilepsy, our specialists can start figuring out what part of your brain is affected and which treatment might work best.
