Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Center

University Hospitals Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Center helps lower the odds of recurring heart failure.

Heart failure patients often experience subsequent, highly disabling recurrences. (Almost half of heart failure patients 70 years or older admitted to the hospital will require repeat hospital admission within 90 days.) Our advanced heart failure cardiologists work to not only minimize damage from future attacks, but also lower the odds of recurrence altogether.

We combine innovative medical technology and individualized counseling to maximize your long-term recovery.

The care you receive from our nationally-renowned cardiologists is complemented by nurse clinicians with specific expertise in heart failure. We help you achieve lifestyle changes with a dietary review and exercise training instruction; and provide an intensive education about your medications.

As an academic center, we participate in clinical trials of drug therapies that yield a range of conclusive evidence. This enables us to administer “tailored therapy”: we ensure you are taking the right medication, and help you adjust to a “targeted dosage” that has been proven to be most effective in clinical trials.
