Welcome to University Hospitals Heart & Vascular Institute.
We believe that the best outcomes result from physicians and nurses caring for the whole person; not just isolated symptoms and parts. When you come to the Heart & Vascular Institute, you will receive a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan that is customized to your medical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
The American Heart Association (AHA) recently recognized our approach to heath care with their Sustained Performance Achievement Award. This award recognizes hospitals that have met AHA guidelines for high performance and compliance with evidence-based best practices for 2 years in-a-row. The Heart and Vascular Institute is one of only 12 hospitals in the country, and the only hospital in the 3-state Ohio Valley to receive the award.
Leading the fight against women’s heart disease.
Heart disease is the number one health threat to women, however too few people are aware of this fact. To help promote awareness, we have partnered with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women, a national awareness campaign designed to educate women about the signs of heart disease. Our commitment includes an arsenal of public promotional materials and advertisements; as well as a dedicated section on this Web site where you can access free information including from facts and statistics, causes, warning signs and prevention methods.
Room to Grow
A nearly 10,000-square-foot expansion and renovation of clinical cardiovascular space at University Hospitals Case Medical Center has just opened to provide new state-of-the-art facilities for patients referred to the Heart & Vascular Institute. This cardiovascular ambulatory / outpatient center incorporates cardiac medicine, vascular medicine, cardiac surgery and imaging, all in one location.
To further facilitate patient access, new catheterization labs have been opened in a number of University Hospitals’ community medical centers around the region, including Geauga Medical Center, Bedford Medical Center and Richmond Medical Center. The Heart & Vascular Institute is sponsoring an IRB-Approved no-backup angioplasty program that will be available at selected medical centers in Northeast Ohio.
To support our clinical components, an additional 10,000+ square feet of laboratory space in the Wolstein Research Building – owned jointly by University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine – has been developed solely for cardiovascular research. These labs will produce the next generation of physician-scientists--- clinicians who will bring a new level of expertise to both the bench and the bedside.
Heart and vascular services also will play a fundamental role in University Hospitals’ new Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood (opening in 2010) and Twinsburg Health Center (opening in Fall 2007). These state-of- the-art facilities will focus primarily on cardiac care for aging baby boomers in the eastern suburbs, complimenting existing health centers at Chagrin Highlands, Euclid, Green Road, Mentor, and Westlake.
We’re close to home.
When it comes to heart health, close proximity to your care team is important. University Hospitals Heart & Vascular Institute will soon have 9 locations throughout Northeast Ohio, allowing you quick access to innovative equipment and cardiovascular expertise whether you require emergency treatment, or a routine exam. You should also be able to gain the information you need, when you want it, which is why we invite you to contact us directly with your questions and concerns.
We are committed to your well being 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
