A spinal cord stimulator is a device that delivers electrical current to the spinal cord.  With a remote control, patients can regulate the amount of current they receive to modulate their pain.  It is a drug-free option for people to ease certain types of back pain. University Hospitals implanted the first spinal cord stimulator in the nation 40 years ago.
