Studies show that the availability of this kind of neuro-intensive care team is associated with significantly reduced in-hospital mortality and length of stay. In one study, there was also a trend in the data to show that outcomes were improved.
The Center’s expert team is headed by a neuro-intensivist (a neurologist with special training in intensive care), joined by fellows, residents and neuroscience nurses as well as ancillary healthcare professionals, such as respiratory therapists, nutritionists, case managers and social workers, to manage all the specialized aspects of care required.
