Our Immune System
The immune system is the body’s first line of defense which consists of highly specialized cells and systems working together to clear infection from the body.

Each part of the immune system has the task of recognizing foreign material (antigens) and some parts of the immune system recognize and react against that material.

When one or more parts of the immune system is not working properly, people can become sick more often.

The major components of the immune system are:
  • B-lymphocytes
  • T-lymphocytes
  • Phagocytes
  • Complement
