President Bush and the Sunshine Kids

Sunshine Kids
On May 14-20, 2007 four of Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital's pediatric cancer patients toured our nation's capital on an all expenses paid trip.

Rainbow was one of six hospitals nationwide to participate in "The 2007 Sunshine Kids National Heritage Tour".  The Sunshine Kids is an organization dedicated to children with cancer.

Melissa Najda, a Registered Nurse at Ireland Cancer Center, accompanied Blaine Scites, Amber Dugan, Amber Persinger, and Ryan Bunch for a week in Washington.

They visited various monuments, museums, the DEA, and even met the President at the White House!

Since 1982, the Foundation has provided a variety of national events involving thousands of young cancer patients from hospitals across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. All activities, transportation, lodging and food are provided free of charge to the children and attending medical staff.

Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital has been selected to participate in this program in many different capacities throughout the last several years.
