Imagine getting terrible headaches, feeling nauseous, even passing out, and having doctors tell you its all in your head. The reason that autonomic dysfunctions are not often diagnosed is that doctors are trained to know about organs and they are trained to know about the brain, but very little attention is paid to the connection between the two. University Hospitals Neurological Institute has the only complete autonomic lab in Ohio that focuses on those nerve connections between the mind and the organs, and the only one that assesses children.
