Critical Care Unit
All brain tumor patients who have had surgery or who are critically ill are cared for in a special intensive care unit, the Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NSU). Here, neuro-intensivists (neurologists who specialize in intensive care), neurosurgeons and specially trained nurses provide the highly skilled, minute-by-minute care required in these cases.

Having a unit that is staffed by neurological physicians and nurse clinicians with extensive experience in the post-operative care of surgical patients increases the opportunity for a safe, smooth recovery.

This is an innovative approach that is available at only a handful of centers in the country. The NSU is one of only two such units in northeast Ohio.
