Dr. Robert Tarr

Robert W. Tarr, M.D., is the section head of neuroradiology in the department of radiology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center (UH) and professor of radiology and neurological surgery at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate and medical studies at the University of Maryland, and trained in diagnostic radiology at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Tarr completed a neuroradiology fellowship specializing in interventional techniques at Presbyterian University Hospital of Pittsburgh.

He directs interventional neuroradiology, and is the co-director of the Cerebrovascular Center at University Hospitals. Due largely to his leadership, a unique collaboration exists between neuroradiology and neurosurgery at UH.

Dr. Tarr is a member of numerous professional societies, and is currently vice president of the American Society of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology.       
                                           
He currently is or has been co-principal investigator or co-investigator on several research studies related to stroke management, thrombolysis (the breakdown of blood clots in the brain using pharmacologic agents), carotid artery stenting, and other stroke studies.
