With the epidemic of obesity, we see patients with exceptionally large hernia with extensive overhanging skin. The removal of this large section of skin is essential to decrease the constant stress on the abdominal wall and reduce recurrence rates. In such cases, the Hernia Center performs a simultaneous procedure in which the hernia is repaired and the plastic surgeons reconstruct the abdominal wall and remove the excess skin.
