Child Life Specialists
Certified Child Life Specialists (CCLS) are professionals who are specially trained to help children and their families understand and manage the hospital experience. Child Life Specialists are skilled in providing developmental, educational, and therapeutic interventions for hospitalized children and their families. They can help your child understand surgeries and other medical procedures, provide support during procedures, and provide activities to promote normal growth and development while your child is admitted. One service of note is pre-admission tours. If you child is having surgery and will be staying overnight at Rainbow, contact the Child Life Specialists to schedule an individual pre-admission tour. This can help your child understand what will be happening and decrease anxiety.
