Akash Agarwal, MD, has joined the Neurological Institute at UH. Dr. Agarwal received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center,his neurosurgery residency at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center
and his endovascular fellowship at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Agarwal specializes in endovascular surgery and interventional neuroradiology. His clinical and research interests include cerebrovascular surgery, stroke, vascular malformations, brain aneurysms, vasospasm and outcomes in neurosurgery.






Hematologist/Oncologist Cynthia Owusu, MD, has joined the Ireland Cancer Center. Dr. Owusu received her medical degree from the University of Science and Techology. She completed her internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center and her geriatriconcology fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. Her clinical/research interests include medical oncology,geriatric oncology and breast cancer.









Dr. Rezaee

Rod Rezaee, MD, has been appointed Director of Head and Neck Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery in UH’s Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Rezaee received his medical degree from The Ohio State University, his general surgery internship at Mount Carmel Medical Center, his otolaryngology head and neck surgery residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center and his microvascular surgery fellowship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center.







Cliff Megerian, MD, professor of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, director of otology and neurotology and medical director of the Cochlear Implant Program at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, recently was elected president of the Northeast Ohio Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Society for 2006 and 2007.

Lee Resnick, MD, Department of Family Medicine and medical director of four UH urgent care centers, will serve as Editor-in-Chief of the new Journal of Urgent Care Medicine. The journal, launched by the Urgent Care Association of America, will offer a mix of practical, peer-reviewed clinical and practice management articles addressing unique practice needs of today’s busy urgent care clinicians. Published by Braveheart Publishing, the fi rst issue will appear in October.

Stanton L. Gerson, MD, Director of Ireland Cancer Center and Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been named to the Association of American Cancer Institutes Board of Directors. The Association of American Cancer Institutes is comprised of 87 of the leading cancer research centers in the United States. It is dedicated to promoting the nation’s leading research institutions’ efforts to eradicate cancer through a comprehensive and multidisciplinary program of cancer research, treatment, patient care, prevention, education and community outreach. Dr. Gerson will begin serving his three-year term at the AACI annual meeting in October.
