Specialty Overview
These clinics are offered by our allergy/immunologists at various UHHS facilities including Landerbrook, Westlake, Strongsville and Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. Since it is a conjoint specialty, physicians can evaluate patients of all ages. A comprehensive evaluation for various allergic and related disorders is provided at these clinics. These disorders include, but are not limited to:
  • environmental allergies (allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis and asthma)
  • food allergies
  • latex allergy
  • venom (bee sting) allergies
  • atopic dermatitis (eczema)
  • recurrent urticaria and angioedema (hives and swelling)
  • variety of anaphylaxis syndromes

Allergy evaluation and treatment
  • skin testing - epicutaneous and intradermal
  • RAST testing
  • challenges - food, drug, latex, antigen, exercise, etc.
  • allergy shots (for environmental and venom allergy patients)
  • desensitization procedures for various drugs

A comprehensive evaluation of chronic or recurrent respiratory symptoms or recurring infections, such as otitis media, pneumonia & sinusitis, and diagnosis & care for patients with autoimmune and/or immunodeficiency diseases.

  • antibody & complement levels
  • Immunoglobulins and IgG subclasses
  • lymphocyte & phagocyte function
  • delayed hypersensitivity skin testing
  • HIV testing (confidential) & counseling
