Illness

Call your baby’s doctor or nurse practitioner if you notice:

HighlightBad odor, discharge or pus from the cord


HighlightThick, yellow drainage from the eyes


HighlightRefusal to eat several times in a row


HighlightVomiting (spitting up most of feedings or spit-up that shoots across the room)


HighlightDiarrhea – three watery stools in an eight-hour period


HighlightA fever of 100 degrees or above (Take the baby’s temperature by placing a thermometer under the armpit, with clothing out of the way)


HighlightExcessive crying for several hours for no apparent reason


HighlightA sudden change in behavior or activity (irritability or excessive sleepiness)


HighlightBleeding from the circumcision


HighlightCoughing


HighlightYellow eye or skin color


HighlightLess than six to eight wet diapers a day by one week of life
