Improving Balance and Decreasing Dizziness with Vestibular Therapy

University Hospitals Rehabilitation Services offers an exercise-based program for patients experiencing vestibular symptoms problems affecting movement and sense of balance. Vestibular disease symptoms can include feeling unsteady, woozy, light-headed and dizzy, or the sensation of spinning or movement called vertigo. During an initial appointment, our experts perform a complete patient evaluation, including an assessment of:

• Balance problems
• Gait (how patient walks)
• Neck range of motion
• Visual stability

The vestibular physical therapy care plan is individualized for each patient's needs. Working together with the therapist, the patient can improve function in everyday activities, reduce the risk of falling, and improve overall quality of life.
