Ewing Sarcoma

University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center Provides Comprehensive Care for Patients with Ewing Sarcoma

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, we know you have many questions. Ewing sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that forms around and affects the bones. Although it can affect people of any age, Ewing sarcoma is more common in children and young adults and is often found in teenagers during growth spurts. UH Seidman Cancer Center’s physicians and specialists are experts at diagnosing and treating Ewing sarcoma, working together to tailor cancer treatment to each patient’s individual needs.

Nationally Recognized Cancer Program

UH Seidman Cancer Center is a nationally recognized cancer program with expertise for both routine and very complex care, including more advanced stage III and IV cancer care. UH Seidman Cancer Center is part of the National Cancer Institute-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, one of an elite group of 41 comprehensive cancer centers nationwide.

Treatment Options

We can offer leading-edge treatments earlier than most other cancer centers, and our advanced technology is integrated into a comprehensive cancer care treatment plan for each patient. With Ewing sarcoma, we offer advanced treatments including:

Compassionate, Highly Trained Team

Our patients benefit from a team approach to their cancer care. Our multidisciplinary team performs a disease-specific tumor board each week. This review ensures that all realistic treatment options are considered.

We believe in putting the patient at the center of a compassionate, highly experienced team. The following specialists may be involved in the review, care and treatment of our patients:

  • Genetic counselors
  • Medical geneticists
  • Medical oncologists
  • Nurse navigators
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Pathologists
  • Radiation oncologists
  • Radiologists
  • Social workers
  • Surgical oncologists

Since the majority of Ewing sarcoma cases occur in young people, we work very closely with the pediatric and young adult cancer specialists at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute.

Cancer Clinical Trials

UH Seidman Cancer Center has many available clinical trials for patients with cancer, including:

  • Using more than one chemo drug for those with Ewing sarcoma that has not spread. Learn more.
