Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic

The Long-Term Follow-Up Clinic at Rainbow provides an opportunity for survivors to understand their own cancer history and to give them the tools and information they need to maintain their health and quality of life.  

Emphasis in this program is on

  • wellness,
  • prevention and
  • early detection & treatment of late effects
Potential late effects of cancer and cancer treatment include abnormal growth, heart problems, infertility, dental problems, learning problems, second cancers. 

This specialized follow-up clinic for childhood cancer survivors can help patients understand and manage their risks and stay as healthy as possible.

The staff of the long-term follow-up clinic works with the patients’ primary oncology team at the Ireland Cancer Center to provide continuity and comprehensive care.

A visit at the long-term follow-up clinic includes:
  • A medical evaluation by a Rainbow Pediatric Oncologist
  • An evaluation by a Psychologist specializing in the emotional and educational issues of childhood cancer survivors
  • A personalized summary of your cancer treatment
  • A personalized plan for healthy living and future health monitoring
