Intern Rounds
A discussion of the management of interesting patients currently admitted to the hospital with the Interns, Chief Residents, Program Directors and faculty members
Also includes time management skills, mock codes and more
Occurs once a week

A discussion of the management of interesting patients currently admitted to the hospital with the floor Seniors, Chief Residents, Program Directors and faculty
Also includes board review questions and current literature review

RAP Clinic Conferences
Twice daily conferences facilitated by the preceptors before both morning and afternoon clinics
Covers common issues in well child care and sick visits
 
Critical Care Conferences
PICU and NICU rotations include specific lectures several times each week
Covers core topics relevant to the care of critically ill neonates and children

Research Skills series
Didactic sessions and group discussions on research skills
Covers all the essentials in order to perform a research project
Held throughout the year

Career Planning series
Lectures and panel discussions for juniors and seniors to prepare them for careers in primary care, academic medicine and subspecialty pediatrics
Several seminars and lectures throughout the year

Computer Based Learning
On-line lectures are featured in our ER and resident outpatient clinic (RAP clinic) curricula
The Chief Email of the Day – a daily email with boards review questions and a summary of the literature reviewed during senior rounds

Candy Rounds
Occurs 1-2 times per week
Consists of the Chiefs and Program Directors bringing questions and/or brief presentations to each area of the hospital to teach the residents


PL-2 Communication Skills Workshop
Held in winter for second year residents with a focus on communication skills like delivering bad news, communicating with ancillary team status and working with the difficult patient

Senior Teaching Workshop

Held in the summer for our new senior residents, focusing on effective feedback methods and advanced teaching skills

Pediatric Board Review

A 2 week course at the end of the PGY-3 year given by Rainbow faculty to help prepare for the licensing exam

 Intern Orientation
One-week orientation prior to Internship year which includes training in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and the Pediatric Advanced Life Support course (PALS)

 Intern Retreat

A two day retreat held outside the hospital focused on team building, communication and getting to know your colleagues
