Welcome to the Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital Residency Program. Please use the navigation bar to the left to learn all about our program. To get you started, here are just some of the things that make training at Rainbow such an incredible experience…
Our Children's Hospital:
Rainbow is a beautiful and modern 244-bed dedicated Children's Hospital with a nationally renowned faculty . We are consistently ranked as a top children’s hospital by both US News and World Report and Child Magazine. In 2008, US News ranked Rainbow as the #5 hospital for general pediatrics, #2 for neonatal care, #9 for neurology and neurosurgery and in the top 25 for every other category. The most recent Child magazine rankings placed Rainbow as the #8 children’s hospital in the country.
Less "scut work":
- 24 hour pediatric IV team
- Four daily phlebotomy rounds
- Limited dictation of discharge summaries
- Full-time patient transport services
Outstanding computer resources:
A brand new electronic health record and computerized order entry system is currently being rolled out. Free subscriptions (including home access) to countless journals and on-line services (including Up To Date).
An integrated notes and sign-out system increases efficiency by having common components (medication list, radiology results, etc.) cross-over between notes and sign-outs. The program was designed by a Rainbow Resident specifically to meet the workflow needs of our residents.

One four-week block per year call-free, plus one to six blocks of Jeopardy call (i.e. sick call with no scheduled in house call). The only rotations that have scheduled call are the inpatient teams, the ICUs and the Newborn Nursery.
