Some conditins emerge before birth (called congenital). Other neurological problems can be caused by many things: trauma, infections, tumors, disrupted blood flow, degeneration or structural defects. Regardless of the cause, all neurological disorders result from damage to the nervous system. Depending on their location, these neurons may control movement, communication, vision, hearing, or cognition.
The nervous system is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates the body's basic functions and activities. It is made up of two major divisions, including the central nervous system (consisting of the brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (consisting of all other neural elements). Other disorders include autism (our team also operates the Rainbow Autism Center), attention deficit disorder (ADD), seizures, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, spasticity, sleep apnea and hundreds of others.
