A board certified music therapist provides services to patients and families on the inpatient hematology/oncology unit, as well as in the outpatient hematology/oncology clinic. Music therapy provides patients and families an expressive outlet while in the hospital. Music therapy interventions are used to promote positive coping, reinforce feelings of mastery, encourage expression of feelings, and provide a creative way to engage in the hospital environment. Because music is a non-threatening medium to most children, unique outcomes are possible
