Welcome to the Rainbow School Program. Peter Kaplan, a licensed Ohio teacher, provided by University Hospitals and the Rainbow Board Foundation provides a school program available to all children, grades Pre-K through 12 enrolled in public, private, charter or parochial schools. Education is obviously a very important part of every child’s life. By participating in the Rainbow School Program, your child can continue their progress in school, while hospitalized.

What to do when your child is admitted to Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital:

  • Notify your child’s teacher/counselor/school and let them know a hospital teacher will be in contact to discuss assignments.
  • Bring your child’s schoolwork and assignments to the hospital. For an unplanned admission, please arrange to bring or have books sent as soon as possible.
  • Encourage your child to participate in the hospital school program.

Services available:

  • We will contact your child’s home school to coordinate assignments while he/she is hospitalized. Assignments can be faxed to the hospital school program at 216-844-7039.
  • We will provide all/any support necessary to help successfully complete assignments such as providing supplies, resource material, or access to a computer.
  • Children are tutored on an individual basis.

Being in the hospital can be a stressful experience for children and families. We hope we can help by assisting with your child’s educational needs. If you have any questions about the school program, you can simply dial extension 47959. You can contact Peter outside of the hospital by dialing 216-844-7959. We look forward to working with you and your child and strive for excellence.
