Vascular Anomalies

What are vascular anomalies?

Hemangiomas are a result of endothelial proliferation in the involved blood vessels, and usually grow rapidly in the first year of life, then regress gradually. However, they often leave permanent changes in the skin and underlying tissues that requires surgical correction

Vascular malformations are present at birth, and may demonstrate progressive growth throughout one’s lifetime. These lesions do not show spontaneous regression

Categories of vascular malformations
