Overview

PEND is a support group for parents who have experienced stillbirth or a neonatal death.
The meetings are led by a parent who has experienced the loss of a baby.

PEND was founded in the early 1970’s by two pediatricians, one of whom, Dr. John Kennell, continues to attend monthly meetings.

We are compassionate individuals offering understanding, support, comfort, friendship and suggestions to guide you through this difficult time.

We realize that the process of grieving is an individual journey and that there is no time limit for the process.
Our group can provide ongoing support when family and friends may find it difficult to understand a lengthy grieving process.

A Place to Share
A PEND meeting is a place to talk openly in a relaxed atmosphere with other parents who have experienced the death of a newborn or stillbirth.

Sharing your grief with others will help healing occur.  You can feel free to express your feelings in a caring, supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere.

Our Meetings
Meetings are offered at no charge to any bereaved parent.
The meetings are informal and no registration is required.
Parents are welcome to invite family members or friends to attend with them.

Parents attending meetings may be at different stages of grief, therefore there are no expectations for attendance. Depending on individual needs, some parents attend a few meetings and others continue to attend for long periods of time.

Meeting Locations
PEND meetings are held the first Monday of each month in the Community Room, #1208, first floor of Rainbow & Babies Children’s Hospital from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

If you are interested in attending a meeting, or to speak with one of our parent leaders, call 216-844-3754.  Please leave your name, phone number, and a brief message, and your call will be returned
as soon as possible.  Messages may be left 24 hours a day and are retrieved regularly.
