It is a modern, 82-bed unit, fully equipped to care for newborn infants with complex medical problems.

Rainbow has the highest survival rates for severely premature infants, and our rates for short- and long-term morbidity (complications and ill health) is among the best in the nation.

The nursery is staffed by an array of specialists, all of whom are proficient at treating the tiniest of patients with great skill and compassion.

Every year we have about 1,500 admissions, including approximately 200 babies born weighing less than 3 pounds.

The NICU is designated by the State of Ohio as a Level III center, and is one of only 12 facilities in the U.S. selected by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Neonatal Research Center.
