NICU

UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has long been a leader in the field and was ranked #2 by US News and World Report in 2008 and 2009. A brand new NICU was opened in the spring of 2009 and utilizes the most technologically advanced equipment, including video monitors on every incubator and the first procedural bed for neonates. Great care was also taken to create a welcoming and soothing environment and incorporates a nature theme in every patient pod. Our NICU takes care of very acutely ill neonates, with referrals from several states and approximately 200 births each year of infants weighing less than 1.5kg.
