Ambulatory Clinics

Resident Continuity Clinics are held in the Rainbow Ambulatory Practice (RAP) Clinic on-site in Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.

Rainbow Residency

Every resident attends clinic one half day per week during the three years of residency. Most residents have clinic on the same day for all three years, providing them the opportunity to establish long-lasting relationships with their preceptors and continuity with their patients.

It is in RAP clinic that residents learn to provide anticipatory guidance and well child care, as well as to manage common pediatric illnesses.

Education is provided while precepting patients and also during conferences given at the beginning of each clinic.  These talks are initially given by the Attendings; as the year goes on, the residents themselves take ownership of the conferences and present the topics.  There is also an online curriculum that the residents both learn from and add modules to.

Residents can elect to spend 2-4 weeks at a time in community pediatric practices through our Outpatient Based Residency Education (OBRE) program.  These rotations give interested residents the opportunity to experience the delivery of pediatric ambulatory care in variety of community settings.
