The purpose of the Community Advisory Board is to:

  • Convene diverse community stakeholders, across sectors and types, to collaborate in service of community health improvement
  • Stimulate development of partnerships between institutions, agencies and residents, with support from UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s and UH MacDonald Women’s hospitals
    • Foster partnerships among community representatives and with UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s and UH MacDonald Women’s hospitals
  • Expand breadth of traditional “health” stakeholders to include representatives from diverse sectors and backgrounds
  • Strengthen capacity to address social and environmental determinants of health
    • Grow local understanding and articulation of these health determinants
  • Provide leadership in addressing community health through collaborative partnerships and focusing on social and environmental health determinants: locally, regionally and nationally
  • Engage in responsive reflection, with a commitment to represent interests broader than the individuals in the Community Advisory Board

“If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.”

UH Rainbow Center for Women & Children, women's lobby

We are committed to inclusion and collaboration with diverse community partners in the design and programming of UH Rainbow Center for Women & Children. In that spirit, we have convened a Community Advisory Board (CAB) that consists of representatives from community organizations across sectors, who are vital stakeholders and service providers in our community. The CAB also includes patients and family members from our pediatric practice and women’s health clinic and community residents. We are grateful for this group’s generous commitment to collaboration, and look forward to bringing novel joint programs, connectivity to social services, and community input to our center programming. In addition to community residents, and UH patients, families, clinicians and staff, sectors represented in our CAB include, but are not limited to:

  • Public health
  • Local businesses
  • Education
  • Faith-based organizations
  • Mental and behavioral health agencies
  • Community service providers
  • Housing
  • Criminal justice
  • Neighborhood centers
  • Community development corporations
  • Arts organizations
