Didactic Training

On Friday mornings, we have fellow meetings in which we have journal clubs, case presentations, guest speakers, and chapter reviews. We also utilize this time to review new patients and interesting cases. Fellows also have the opportunity to attend weekly Adult Rheumatology Grand Rounds at University Hospitals. They will attend an immunology tutorial offered locally or nationally. They are expected to attend and present at CCF Rheumatology conferences. They are also required to attend the University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital fellows core curriculum sessions, that occur once per month, and is designed ensure that all fellows at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital meet the ABP requirements. There is a biostatistics course offered annually by the General Clinical Research Center that fellows will be encouraged to attend. The first year of pediatric rheumatology training will be devoted to developing competency in the area of clinical practice. A syllabus will be distributed that contains key references in the disease specific area and the fellows will have required readings which will be monitored by the faculty.
