Pediatric Fellowship Programs Mission

pediatric fellows

The mission of our Pediatric Fellowship Training Programs mirror that of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Pediatrics, which is to train highly competent clinicians, educations, and scholars who are well prepared become leaders in their respective subspecialties. We are committed to providing each fellow with a solid foundation in clinical care, as well as in teaching and research. Our research opportunities are extensive and varied, and trainees may pursue many different areas of focus, including bench, clinical, translational, quality improvement, medical education, and/or health services research depending on their specific interests and career goals. Following fellowship training, our trainees go on to serve as outstanding clinicians, educators, researchers, advocates, and leaders in their respective fields. While some of our graduates enter private practice, many take academic positions at top-ranked pediatric institutions across the nation as well as internationally.

Fellowship positions are open to candidates who have completed at least three years of training in an accredited residency in general pediatrics or other qualifying subspecialty.

The Center for Pediatric Education

Our Center for Pediatric Education provides strong administrative support for all GME learners as well as faculty at UH-Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Jerri Rose serves as the Director for Fellowship Education in the Department of Pediatrics, and Dr. Michael Dell serves as the Department’s Vice-Chair of Education. In addition, each fellowship has a dedicated team of Fellowship Director(s), a dedicated fellowship coordinator, and core subspecialty faculty. Under the leadership of Jessica Williger, our Education Program Administrator, the Center for Pediatric Education is supported by an outstanding team of pediatric fellowship coordinators who are highly skilled with supporting fellows throughout the course of their training.

The entire Pediatric Center for Pediatric Education Team is dedicated to maintaining the tradition of educational excellence that makes UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital a wonderful place to continue your career.
