Advanced Pediatric Orthopedic Techniques for Better Results

Our pediatric orthopedic specialists are known for using less traumatic, less painful methods to improve the health and quality of life in the young patients we treat. We use advanced surgical techniques, including the latest procedures for early onset scoliosis, to successfully treat young children, including those with severe deformities, and employ less need for exposure to radiologic tests.

Some of the advanced techniques, procedures and innovations we offer include:

  • Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), a minimally invasive approach to reduce pain and hasten recovery; we are the only pediatric orthopedic center in Northeast Ohio to offer this advanced technology
  • Use of the drug Amicar® during surgery, which dramatically reduces blood loss, often eliminating the need for transfusions
  • The HemiBridge system, which uses a plate and screw device to guide the growth of the spine and treat scoliosis without the use of a brace
  • Spinal fusion procedures to correct spinal curvature in older children
  • Grow rods to treat scoliosis in younger patients who are still growing; this includes the use newly approved devices that can decrease the need for repeat surgery
  • Advanced limb lengthening procedures to help correct limb deformities
