Car Seat Recycling Program
Help the Environment by Donating Used Car Seats
Many parents do not know what to do with their infant carriers and car seats once their children have outgrown them. The car seat recycling program at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital gives parents an environmentally friendly way to dispose of unneeded or damaged car seats. Recycling gets old or unsafe seats out of circulation while also keeping thousands of tons of plastic, metal, and cloth out of landfills each year.
Used car seats turned into the recycling program are first inspected and evaluated for potential future use. Those that are safe to be reused are cleaned and offered to those without the means to purchase a new car seat. Seats that cannot be reused are dismantled and recycled, keeping them out of landfills.
Download the donation waiver form that needs to be completed for each car seat that is turned in for recycling.
For more information, call 216-844-2277 (option 5) and leave a message. One of our staff members will get back to you to coordinate dropping off the seats.
UH Rainbow’s Car Seat Recycling Program is supported by Republic Services.
