University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is Strengthened by National Affiliations

UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital is a pediatric affiliate of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in Cleveland, Ohio.

This affiliation means that we are among only a few hospitals in the world to continually develop the most advanced treatments through ongoing research and clinical trials. For UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital patients, this affiliation provides unique access to novel therapies and lets them be the first to benefit from potentially lifesaving procedures. In fact, nearly 85 percent of our patients under age 15 are enrolled in clinical trials for the latest advancements in cancer treatments.

Fact Accredited for Improved Quality of Care

University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute and UH Seidman Cancer Center offers the region’s most experienced pediatric blood and marrow transplant program in northern Ohio fully accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

Receiving care from a FACT-accredited organization can make patients feel confident that they are in good hands. FACT is the only accrediting organization that addresses all quality aspects of cellular therapy treatments, including:

  • Cell administration
  • Cell collection
  • Cell processing
  • Cell release
  • Cell selection
  • Cell storage and banking
  • Cell transportation
  • Clinical care
  • Donor management

National Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium

Our blood and bone marrow transplant program is a member of the National Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium (PBMTC).

Founded in 1989, this group is the largest clinical trials organization focused exclusively on blood and marrow transplants for children and adolescents. The PBMTC is a core member of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Clinical Trials Network (CTN) and has a close collaborative relationship with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
