Proton Therapy

Offering Precise Radiation to Treat Teens and Young Adults with Cancer

The Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute is pleased to offer AYA cancer patients access to the state-of-the-art University Hospitals Proton Therapy Center. Proton therapy is a form of radiation therapy that precisely targets tumors so it can reduce radiation damage to healthy tissue and vital organs such as the brain, heart and lungs. This painless, outpatient therapy can be especially beneficial to adolescents, whose still-growing bodies can be more susceptible to radiation side effects. Proton therapy is an ideal treatment option for many types of solid tumors. We are one of the first hospitals in the state to offer this type of cancer treatment.
