Our Services

Comprehensive Care for Infants, Children, Adolescents and Young Adults with Digestive Disorders

In addition to general pediatric hepatology and gastroenterology services, the team of GI specialists at the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition offer the following specialty services and programs:

  • Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) Program: This program allows patients with EoE to meet with a pediatric GI specialist, pediatric allergist, and a dietician during one comprehensive appointment.
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program: Our team diagnoses, treats and can offer second opinions when your child is diagnosed with irritable bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
  • Endoscopy Center: Our advanced endoscopy capabilities and trained staff can diagnose and treat children with a variety of GI issues.
  • LeRoy W. Matthews Cystic Fibrosis Clinic: We collaborate with a team of pediatric pulmonology specialists to provide comprehensive care for children with cystic fibrosis.
  • Dysfunctional Elimination Syndrome Program: Our trained team uses biofeedback to effectively treat constipation in children. Biofeedback involves the use of sensors to help patients gain control over muscles that are not working correctly to perform body functions that are normally automatic.
  • Aerodigestive Clinic: In collaboration with pediatric pulmonologists and ENT specialists, our team diagnoses and treats complex airway, breathing and swallowing disorders in children.
  • Nutrition Program: Our registered dietitian nutritionist can assess your child’s nutrition status, determine a nutrition diagnosis, and plan and help implement nutrition recommendations.
  • Medication Infusion Program: We provide access to the state-of-the-art infusions center in the Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute Outpatient Center on UH Rainbow’s 8th floor.
