Family and Child Life Services
The Family and Child Life Services department is a team of professionals who strive to ensure the best patient and family experience at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital through individualized assessment, intervention, education, and advocacy.
The Family and Child Life Services department is home to many disciplines who work together to provide the highest quality care. The department includes child life specialists, child life assistants, art and music therapists, school teachers, Family Resource Center staff, and the Angie’s Garden rooftop team. All of our staff help children and families trying to successfully manage the hospital experience.
Child Life Specialists
Child life specialists are professionals who are trained to help children and their families understand and cope with healthcare experiences.
Child Life Assistants
Child life assistants are professionals trained to support the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and their families in coordination with a child life specialist. They also supervise volunteers and the activity centers within the main hospital.
Creative Arts Therapies
Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Creative Arts Therapies team is made up of Registered and Board Certified Art Therapists and Board Certified Music Therapists
The Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center (FRC) is a relaxing place to read, and it has plenty of books for the whole family to borrow during your hospital stay.
School Program
School is an important part of every child’s life. By participating in the Hospital School Program, your child can continue to be involved with schoolwork while in the hospital.
